Job Description:

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication seeks a tenure track assistant professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in online and multimedia journalism.

Teaching assignments may also include basic or advanced reporting classes, depending on expertise. The candidate will contribute to department and university service, contribute to the graduate program and advise students.

Requirements:

Master's degree in journalism or a closely-related discipline. Minimum of five year's significant professional journalism experience. Excellent communication skills.

Familiarity with issues and applications relating to convergent media.

Significant professional journalism experience is required. Should also have a strong professional background in conceptual design including the use of video, audio, typography and photography for a variety of media platforms.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to conduct significant research and/or creative work Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in journalism or a closely related discipline. Some college/university-level teaching experience. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and professional service.
